Fuels can have contaminants, such as dirt that enters the car when refueling.

The particles may harm the carburetor or the injection system if they are introduced further into the engine, for instance by clogging nozzles. All internal combustion engines come with a fuel filter to guarantee that the fuel is always clean.

Ferdinand Bilstein fuel filters are designed to the highest standards: they are resistant to current fuels (such as those containing a lot of ethanol or biodiesel) while also guaranteeing consistently high flow rates and filter performance across a wide temperature range (between -40 °C and 100 °C).
