Pneumatic brakes are standard on commercial trucks with gross weights more than 7.5 t. Pressurized air enters the brake cylinder when the vehicle is braking. A piston is then pushed by the diaphragm it is pushing.
The brake system's piston activates it. On both drum and disc brakes, pneumatic brake cylinders can be found. The brake cylinders need to be frequently inspected because of their crucial function in braking.
The two main causes of deterioration are rust and a leaking diaphragm. The brake cylinder needs to be replaced if there is any question about its correct operation.
