By releasing pressure, expansion valves allow the liquid refrigerant in the evaporator to expand or change state from liquid to vapor. As evaporation heat is absorbed, cold air is available to cool the vehicle's interior.
Between the condenser and the evaporator's input is where the MN1082 Expansion Valve is found in the liquid line. It's on the other side of the system to the compressor. In air conditioning systems, there are two types of expansion valves: thermostatic expansion valves and orifice tube throttle valves.
