One of the most important component in the cooling system for the engine is the radiator. Its purpose is to dissipate heat produced by the engine to the environment using the cooling fluid in the cooling system. The radiator is constructed up of brass, steel, aluminum, or plastic tanks with an aluminum core. There are two types of radiators: with frame or without frame. The materials used to make the radiator are chosen based on its intended use, working conditions, and surroundings.

Depending on the application, a frame, an additional heat exchanger (for example, an oil cooler), or an integrated expansion tank can be added to the IV2040N Radiator W/O Frame ( Behr Version ).

Engine coolant is used to cool retarder coolers (continuous brake). When the operating hydraulic oil becomes heated and needs to cool, they're used in hydraulic retarder systems.
