Coolant is stored in expansion tanks. The coolant expands as the temperature rises, causing the pressure in the engine cooling system to rise. A pressure valve is positioned in the tank cap and controls the fluid pressure.
The DFT078 Expansion Tank is typically made of plastic and has multiple chambers. It can be transparent, with an extra level indicator or an electronic liquid level sensor, to guarantee that the amount of coolant is controlled.
