In supercharged combustion engines, intercoolers (also known as air coolers) cool compressed air before it is delivered to the engine. Lowering the air's temperature improves its density, which increases the amount of oxygen and fuel available for combustion, improving engine efficiency (increase in power).
The most typical air cooler design matches the same about a radiator, with an aluminum core and aluminum or plastic tanks. The RE4043 Intercooler is normally situated between the engine and the supercharger.
