In supercharged combustion engines, intercoolers (also known as air coolers) are used to cool compressed air in the compressor before transferring it to the engine. Lowering the temperature of the air improves its density, which increases the amount of oxygen and fuel available for combustion, improving engine performance (increase in power).
The most typical air cooler design matches the same about a radiator, with an aluminum core and aluminum or plastic tanks. The DF4104 Intercooler is normally situated between the engine and the supercharger.
