A sensor is a tool that can collect one or more physical properties, such as temperature, position, movement, speed, etc., and turn them into a signal the ECU can process electronically.
Actuators are parts used to manage internal combustion engines for efficiency, economy, and performance by converting electrical output signals from the ECU into physical quantities. Fuel injectors, ignition coils, and electro pneumatic valves are a few examples of the components mentioned. For better control, actuators provide feedback to the ECU on factors including position, power usage, and load.
