The oil cooler shields the engine oil from an excessive amount of thermal stress. Permanent heat dissipation during oil cooling is required to preserve the engine oil's characteristics. At between 90 and 100 degrees Celsius, the temperature is deemed ideal. The engine oil's performance and lifespan are adversely impacted by temperature increases of just ten degrees Celsius.
Oil coolers are occasionally installed on the gearbox or the hydraulic system as well as the engine in commercial vehicles.
Nowadays, oil coolers are made from pressed aluminum plates that are produced using a layer architecture.
