The coolant is stored in the expansion tanks. The coolant expands as the temperature rises, increasing the pressure in the engine cooling system. A pressure valve situated in the tank cap regulates the fluid pressure.
DFT076 Expansion Tank with multiple chambers are commonly used. It can be transparent, with an additional level indicator or an electronic liquid level sensor, to ensure that the amount of coolant used is kept under control.
