Coolant is stored in expansion tanks. The coolant expands as the temperature rises, causing the pressure in the engine cooling system to rise. A pressure valve is positioned in the tank cap and controls the fluid pressure.
DFT079 Expansion Tank with multiple chambers are commonly used. It can be transparent, with an additional level indicator or an electronic liquid level sensor, to ensure that the amount of coolant used is kept under control.
