Expansion tanks store the coolant. As the temperature rises, the coolant expands, increasing the pressure in the engine cooling system. The fluid pressure is controlled by a pressure valve located in the tank top.
MET296 Expansion Tank with multiple chambers are commonly used. It can be transparent, with an additional level indicator or an electronic liquid level sensor, to ensure that the amount of coolant used is kept under control.
